COVID19 Update

Getting Your Conservatory Eco Christmas Ready!

We may be bias, but we honestly believe that a conservatory can be a great place for celebrating Christmas, whether that’s by setting up a table and inviting family members for Christmas lunch or by gathering round a tree to open your presents.

Do you want a new conservatory ceiling for Christmas?

It’s still only November but excitement about Christmas is building, probably because Covid meant that last year, well, Christmas was a bit of a damp squid for a lot of people.

Conservatory Health Check

When did you last give your conservatory a health check? If you haven’t checked on your conservatory lately, or perhaps aren’t even sure what a conservatory check involves, we’ve got news: it’s easy, it won’t take long and it could save you money!

Leka Xi – Modular Conservatory Walls & Base

To complete the Leka suite of products, the Leka Xi can provide a warm, sustainable alternative to a traditional block/brick built conservatory base/wall.

How big is your footprint?

What most people don’t realise is that the biggest source of the carbon footprint you leave, is your home and household emissions. According to Nesta, “domestic energy use accounts for more than 21 % of UK greenhouse gas emissions each year.” The Office for National Statistics claim that households have been the single biggest emitter of greenhouse gases in the UK since 2015 and account for almost 28% of the UK’s total emissions.

The glass in my conservatory keeps cracking or breaking!

The last few years have been extraordinary for so many reasons, not least because of Brexit, Covid and climate change. Of course, we’ve all been affected by these massive events and in our world of conservatories, we’ve really noticed the effects of climate change recently. And if you’re having trouble with cracked, broken or damaged glass in your conservatory, it may be that you have too.

To tile or not to tile?

If you’re thinking of refurbishing your conservatory, one of the questions you may have are whether you can tile the roof and if so, whether it’s advisable to do so? So we thought it might be helpful to run through some of the main points to consider:

Is the rain getting you down?

Yup, it’s getting a bit boring now. After all, with summer travel still difficult and all the challenges of the last 18 months, we do all really need some warm sunny weather and some long balmy days spent in the garden.

Check your seals

As the sun finally comes out after weeks of rain, there’s been a collective sigh of relief across the UK. Summer is here at last and if we can’t go on holiday, we can at least enjoy some long sunny days. But that said, if you’re a traditional conservatory owner, things might look a little different.

Where did the sun go?

This time last week we were writing about how to keep cool in a heatwave as temperatures were set to soar over the weekend. Roll forward to today, and we’ve just dug out our flippers and wetsuit! But hey, that’s British weather for you.

Love Your Lean To

Love Your Lean To

Lean to conservatories come in all shapes and sizes and the best description of a lean to is a type of simple structure originally added to an existing building with the rafters “leaning” against another wall. Some of the older lean to structures sometimes get bad press as being a bit dated and shabby, but actually, there’s lots you can do to breathe new life into your lean to.

Stay or sell?

Stay or sell?

There is no doubt that Covid 19 has changed many lives for good. In the space of 12 months working from home has become the norm with Zoom and online conferencing becoming second nature, and many large employers taking the decision to permanently downsize office space. Although the country is gradually re-opening, it is unlikely that working practices and lives will ever completely return to how things were before March 2020.
